I've been where you might be today - recovering from an injury, seeking understanding, just wanting to walk and move better or working towards an athletic goal.

As a kid, I loved running and playing - whether it was football in the backyard or any game that kept me moving. I enjoyed being active so much that I'd often put off bathroom breaks (much to my kidneys’ dismay!).

As I grew older, play became mixed with a desire to perfect and perform, whether on the lake, waterskiing, snow skiing, cycling, or in the gym, training to prepare for these activities.

But, being young and inexperienced, injuries happened - some due to my mistakes, others just part of being active.

I remember my first injuries and, honestly, the frustration of finding few real solutions in the medical and therapy world. One physiotherapist told me there was nothing more he could do. A respected sports medicine doctor advised me to give up running at age 20.

Looking back, I realize that despite their credentials and training, neither of these practitioners appreciated the interconnectedness of all parts of the body to a single element (and vice versa), the brain's connection to injury and pain, and the mental and emotional components of words and language.

Of course, our understanding of anatomy, physiology, and the brain has come a long way in the past 20-plus years. Still, these experiences weren't lost on me and made me search out people, modalities, and capacities that were more in line with my strength of always seeing potential - this is my approach with my clients.
